TeacherFolio is a set of tools that can be used for teacher development in teacher and student programs. The tools are designed to allow teachers to document the work that they are doing so that it can be used for purposes beyond STARTALK. Individual teachers may elect to use the completed documents as evidence of their professional growth and learning, and the work may become part of their own professional portfolio. The use of these tools in STARTALK programs is voluntary, but it is hoped that conversation about these tools will strengthen the work being done in STARTALK programs and build consistency across programs to benefit teachers who elect to participate in more than one program.
TeacherFolio is focused on the planning and implementation of learning plans. The content is not new, but in some cases it has been reformatted or repurposed for TeacherFolio. The tools are based on the STARTALK-endorsed Principles for Effective Teaching and Learning and they draw on existing STARTALK materials that support thematic unit and lesson design.
