Ahead of the STARTALK spring conference, many programs will already start recruiting staff and participants and plan their summer programs. Although the process can seem daunting, there are many resources that can help guide you in developing and marketing your STARTALK summer programs. The community organization outreach template letter is a sample letter template you can use to reach out to local schools and educational organizations in your area to spread the word about your STARTALK summer programming and what it can offer. This letter requests support from organizations in promoting your program—you may wish to send this letter to a school or organization prior to requesting to send home letters to parents, etc. We suggest targeting administrators specifically, such as language program coordinators, literacy consultants, and Parent Teacher Association Representatives. Typically, you can find this information on your local school or education organization’s website. 

The parent outreach template letter is a sample letter template you can use to reach out to parents in your community to spread the word about your STARTALK summer programming and what it can offer. We suggest customizing this letter and putting it on school, organization, or camp letterhead. Then, provide copies and request school, PTAs, or other partners send it home directly to parents, or send this home directly to parents already within your organization’s network.
