LARC-SDSU is proposing a 2-week (60 hours) on-site professional development for 12 beginning, practicing, and heritage school language teachers of Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Persian, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu with an advanced proficiency in their respective language and English, as well as, 3+ years of experience teaching the target language. The curriculum for this program will allow participants to focus on the key characteristics and strategies of learner-centered instruction. The summer program will be from June 1st to 12th, 2020. Upon successful completion, the participants are awarded three units of undergraduate college credit through the SDSU College of Extended Studies. The program is followed by an online submission of a lesson the participants will have implemented in the fall of 2020, and a two-day (9 hours) follow-up workshop in person in January.
