    Summary

    The STARTALK Hindi and Urdu Program Immersion Program will run from July 10 till July 28, 2017. The program will enroll 70 students, heritage and non-heritage,for Hindi and Urdu language, 35 for Hindi and 35 for Urdu language whose proficiency will vary from Novice to Advanced. The instructional hours will be from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm for two weeks when they are onsite and one week students will work online from 9.00 am till 2.00 pm. The theme of the program is " Where Our Dreams Take Us: Immigration and Identity". The curriculum will follow backward design model and will be guided by the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages for Hindi and Urdu languages. At the completion of the three week program students will be able to perform tasks in Novice to Advance range in accordance with the ACTFL Performance Guidelines for k-12 students (1999).

    Summary

    The DC Metro Urdu STARTALK Program will provide instruction to 50 upper elementary, middle, and high school students. Classes will be held for 6.00 hours a day for three weeks for a total of 90 hours. Instruction will be based on the theme “A Day in the Life of Pakistani Youth.” Our aim is for students to learn to carry out a variety of meaningful tasks appropriate to their age at half a performance level above their incoming level.
