    Summary

    1. The Indus Arts Council Urdu STARTALK Program will offer another exciting 15 days hands-on learning
    opportunity to 50 local early elementary and upper elementary school students to improve their Urdu language skills
    and their familiarity with Urdu culture.

    3. We strive to provide total immersive and conducive environment inside and outside the class to make
    learning fun and engaging.
    4. Students will improve their proficiency in Urdu language and culture through an engaging curriculum
    that integrates age-appropriate content goals with language learning and cultural goals.
    5. The program will also strengthen students’ ties with the local Urdu-speaking community and it will help
    promote the study of and awareness of Urdu and its culture in the Houston area.

    Summary

    The DC Metro Urdu STARTALK Program will provide instruction to 50 upper elementary, middle, and high school students. Classes will be held for 6.00 hours a day for three weeks for a total of 90 hours. Instruction will be based on the theme “A Day in the Life of Pakistani Youth.” Our aim is for students to learn to carry out a variety of meaningful tasks appropriate to their age at half a performance level above their incoming level.
