STARTALK Unit Template for Student Programs
Several of our Program Directors have supplemented the curriculum template with unit and lesson plan templates to implement their programs and engage their instructors more fully in the planning process. Others have expressed a desire for such tools to bridge the curriculum plan to their daily unit and lesson planning. In response to this need, STARTALK Central has developed this Unit Template. Use of this template is not required; it is provided as a tool for planning instruction.
A unit is a thematic organizer of a subset of the curriculum to be completed in a specific period of time. In a unit, topics are related and learning activities are logically sequenced to achieve stated objectives. A unit usually consists of a series of lessons which include instruction, practice, application and assessment.
