LangNet—Below is a description of LangNet—click here to go directly to the site:  http://www.nflc.org/projects/current_projects/langnet/

LangNet is a state-of-the-art online foreign language learning and maintenance system developed by NFLC. This system is offered free of charge to foreign language faculty, administrators, and students at U.S. institutions.

LangNet materials include practice in reading and listening in Arabic, including Modern Standard, Iraqi, Gulf, Sudanese, Levantine, and Egyptian. The system is designed for foreign language learners who generally range from advanced beginners to near native speakers (i.e., proficiency levels ILR 1+ TO ILR 4). While the materials are developed primarily for maintenance and enhancement of language skills outside an instructional setting, its use in conjunction with language courses is encouraged.

To access LangNet, academic users must apply for a username and password. To apply, email langnetacademe@nflc.org with the following information:

  • Name(s) of interested faculty and/or administrators
  • Title of institution
  • Contact information (address, telephone number, and email address)
  • Languages of interest
  • Anticipated number of intended users (students and others)

Once this information is received, you will be sent a user name and password. The only obligation is that you agree to respond to reasonable requests for feedback on the system's usability and effectiveness. This information will enable the developers of LangNet to continue its implementation in ways which best reflect user needs and desires.
