STARTALK Surveys - Frequently Asked Questions
How Does This Work?
- First, you must create a user account on this website. You only have to do this once. After that, every time you come back to this website (even if it is next year), you can log in with the same username and password that you create now.
- After you create an account, you will be taken to your Profile page. Here, you will tell us which STARTALK program you are attending this year.
- After selecting a program, you will see a table that lists the opening and closing dates for the Pre- and Post-program surveys for your program. You may fill out a survey at any time between those dates.
Please note that although you are required to provide your full name and birthdate before taking the survey, we will not be reporting any of your responses with any of this personally identifying information.
I can't get to the survey!
There are 3 things that might be happening:
- I get an error message when I try to log in. The most likely cause is a mistyped or misremembered password. If you provided an email address when you created your account, you may reset your password. Otherwise, you should just create a new account.
- I cannot find the program I am attending in the dropdown list. If you are a teacher trainee, check that your participant type is listed as “teacher” on your profile. If it is not, you will only see the student programs in that dropdown list, and not the teacher trainee programs. You can change your participant type by clicking on the “Change this information” link on your profile page.
- I can log in and select my program, but there is still no link to take the survey. This means that the survey is either not yet open, or has already closed. Remember the pre-program survey opens 2 weeks before the start date of your program and remains open until midnight (Eastern Time) of the second day of the program. The post-program survey opens on the third-to-last day of your program, and remains open until midnight (Eastern Time) 2 weeks after the end of the program.
Can I save and come back to a partially completed survey?
Yes. Click the Save button at the bottom of the survey form. This will save your current responses. You can then log out. When you log back in, the survey will be marked (Started) on your profile page. If you click on that link, you will be returned to the survey with all of your previous answers already filled in for you.
Is there a time limit on the survey?
No, there is no time limit for filling out the survey form itself. However, there is a “date-limit”; you can only fill out the pre-program survey up to the second day of your program, and you can only fill out the post-program survey up to two weeks after your program ends.
Can I see my responses for a survey I already submitted?
No, we do not allow you to see your responses after you have submitted them.
When I created my account, I picked the wrong participant type (e.g., student instead of teacher). How do I change that?
You can change your participant type by clicking on the “Change this information” link on your profile page.
